Hydraulic Wastewater Modelling Specialist

We are actively seeking to recruit several Hydraulic Wastewater Modelling Specialists for various significant long-term projects across the UK.

In addition to a diverse array of long-term initiatives within the UK water sector, RPS, in collaboration with Tetra Tech, has secured a £100 million single-award framework from a leading water utility to enhance river health in the Northwest region.

With over two decades of partnership with this utility, RPS is at the forefront of innovative projects. As we transition into AMP8, this is a pivotal moment in the water sector, and working alongside dedicated organizations provides our team with the chance to drive meaningful change.

Under this decade-long framework, RPS will focus on program optimization, solution development, and the selection of preferred options based on best value, minimal carbon footprint, and cost-effectiveness. Our goal is to deliver outstanding water services that contribute to a resilient, sustainable, and flourishing Northwest.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises a team of Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts dedicated to Asset Management and Operational Strategy development for our Water Industry clients, aiding in business planning and execution. This dynamic industry presents challenges and opportunities that demand innovation, commitment, and teamwork to meet our clients' expectations.

In addition to the framework with the water utility, we collaborate with several major water companies throughout the UK, maintaining a comprehensive portfolio of long-term framework agreements.

Our Water Consultancy division is engaged in a range of prestigious AMP8 programs leading into AMP9 and beyond, ensuring your career is secured for the next two decades while leaving a lasting impact.

About You:

Candidates should have prior experience in urban drainage projects and be proficient in InfoWorks ICM and relevant GIS software.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong teamwork abilities and the capacity to integrate smoothly into a collaborative environment. They will also have opportunities to develop their skills as a mentor, providing technical guidance to fellow modelling professionals and demonstrating leadership in urban drainage scenarios while prioritizing exceptional client service.

Your Responsibilities:

Develop, validate, and maintain various levels of wastewater models. Conduct feasibility studies, model utilization studies, optioneering, and development assessments for wastewater networks. Ensure the quality of modelling outputs and adherence to standards, specifications, and governance requirements. Manage small-scale projects effectively. Foster strong and collaborative working relationships with clients. Communicate and cooperate effectively with team members to provide technical support and assistance. Operate in compliance with corporate health and safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Relevant experience in modelling within either a consultancy or water company setting is expected. Proficiency in Excel and Visual Basic is required. Experience with modelling software, particularly InfoWorks ICM and associated add-ons. Familiarity with GIS Systems (preferably MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS). Skilled in handling and manipulating large datasets. Demonstrable experience with discipline-specific data analysis tools, ideally water-focused such as InfoWorks or InfoAsset. General understanding of the UK water sector. Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

A degree in a relevant technical field is preferred. Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous. Chartered status or progress towards chartership for Senior or Principal levels. Affiliation with a professional institution such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or actively working towards membership and nearing application.

What's in it for you?

A personal development plan and a clear career pathway empower you to take charge of your career, with support available for your aspirations.

We value diverse ideas, perspectives, and thought processes. A mix of experiences and skills is essential for fostering the most innovative solutions. We respect one another and acknowledge the potential and contributions of all. You will be part of a diverse community and a company that prioritizes its people and their well-being.
