Role Summary:

As a Commercial Counsel, you will deliver expert legal counsel, advice, and support to the Sales, Commercial, and Marketing teams within the organization. Your focus will encompass a wide array of commercial matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, intellectual property, and technology-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your legal expertise to assist the Sales and Commercial teams in achieving customer acquisition goals while delivering passive infrastructure services in the mobile telecommunications sector.
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for the Sales, Marketing, and Communications teams, addressing day-to-day legal inquiries and providing general support.
  • Engage in drafting and negotiating a variety of legal documents across multiple domains, including IT, Marketing, and Operations, while offering insights into business strategies and governance.
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and manage them independently.
  • Handle agreements related to cloud services, infrastructure sharing, facilities management, NDAs, master services agreements, and other customer-facing contracts.
  • Provide sound legal guidance on risks and issues associated with specific deals, offering pragmatic solutions to mitigate those risks.
  • Support the Marketing, Brand, and Communications teams by advising on relevant legal matters.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Commercial Counsel on queries and contract variations concerning Master Services Agreements.
  • Maintain and enhance the template document suite that underpins commercial transactions, ensuring it evolves with the legal landscape.
  • Continuously update the document suite to reflect changing legal requirements and ensure compliance with customer obligations.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Legal & Compliance Team's functions by introducing innovative solutions and forward-thinking approaches to legal workstreams.
  • Identify opportunities for transformation and develop new solutions, often incorporating technology for greater efficiency.
  • Establish effective working relationships with legal suppliers to ensure satisfactory handling of work at an appropriate cost.
  • Manage and support relationships with legal supplier teams on a daily basis.

Required Skills:

  • Qualified solicitor with a strong background in commercial law.
  • Extensive experience in commercial contracts.
  • 3-6 years of post-qualification experience in commercial transactions.
  • Experience within a dynamic in-house legal team.
  • Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Able to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven track record of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Experience with Technology, Marketing, and Intellectual Property contracts.
