Job Title: Consultant in Acute Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our expanding team. As a key member of our Urgent Care Division, you will be responsible for the care of patients on our Acute Medicine Unit and Acute Medicine Assessment Centre.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Acute Medicine and a strong educational background. You will be supported by a full multi-disciplinary team, including junior doctors and advanced nurse practitioners.

As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will be responsible for leading ward rounds, supervising junior doctors, and providing educational and clinical supervision. You will also be involved in the development of clinical processes to improve patient outcomes and experience.

We welcome applications from those who wish to work flexibly or on a less than full-time basis. Our Trust has a strong Medical Education department, and the post holder would have a significant educational role, particularly in educational supervision of our IMT doctors and students.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Leading ward rounds on the AMU, supporting junior doctors and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Post taking patients within ED and SDEC
  • Supervision of patients returning to SDEC (ambulatory clinic)
  • Acute Medicine outpatients
  • Educational and clinical supervision of junior doctors
  • Attendance and input into departmental and medical meetings
