Lab Manager Microbiology Lead

Job Summary:

Morph Enterprise is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to lead our Microbiology team. As a key member of our laboratory operations, you will be responsible for managing and supervising a team of laboratory staff, ensuring the highest quality of testing and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
    • Manage and lead a subspecialty section of the laboratory, ensuring the highest quality of testing and compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Assume full responsibility for all laboratory staff in their section and their actions.
    • Champion a laboratory environment that promotes quality and compliance for all laboratory-related tests and services.
    • Provide 24/7 call coverage.
    • Contribute to and support departmental strategic planning.
    • Ensure maintenance of equipment, evaluate new equipment, and promote new programs and problem-solving.
  • Fiscal Responsibility:
    • Take full fiscal responsibility for the section, including preparing and managing budgets, analyzing billing codes, and supporting revenue integrity.
    • Monitor and control overtime to achieve the company's goal of < 1.8% OT.
    • Update all equipment maintenance and service agreements in collaboration with the Supply Chain department.
  • Quality Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies (CLIA, TJC, OSHA, DPH, HCFA, FDA, AABB, NCCLS).
    • Participate in hospital-wide Quality Assurance Programs and prepare reports for Quality Improvement Program (QuIP) reviews.
    • Maintain updated Policy and Procedure Manuals and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide guidance and resolution for technical problems.
    • Plan, evaluate, and implement new methodologies and technologies.
    • Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Human Resources:
    • Oversee the interview process and candidate selection.
    • Manage orientation and competency testing for all testing personnel.
    • Embrace the company's Performance Management Process and support employee engagement.
    • Coordinate cross-training programs and ensure optimal staff utilization.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate with staff through regular meetings.
    • Work with the Administrative Director, Medical Chief, and other managers to achieve common goals.
    • Prepare and implement customer service programs and value customer feedback.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an applied science.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in the specific area of charge.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Familiarity with accrediting agencies' requirements, particularly The Joint Commission and College of American Pathologists.
