Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
We are seeking a full-time Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our Neurodevelopmental and Learning Disability teams within the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a proactive and innovative psychiatrist dedicated to enhancing service delivery. You will collaborate with a passionate team of consultants and multidisciplinary clinicians, working closely with pediatricians, educational institutions, community organizations, and allied health professionals.

This position includes a Golden Hello of £20,000, payable in two installments (subject to eligibility, taxable and non-pensionable), and a relocation package of up to £8,000 (subject to eligibility), along with a generous annual leave allowance, study leave, and access to the NHS pension scheme, as well as various financial benefits including discounts on vehicle purchases and leases.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing psychiatric leadership to the Neurodevelopmental Team and supervising Band 7 nurses, including a nurse prescriber, who manage ADHD medication monitoring clinics. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting neurodevelopmental assessments for new referrals and offering consultations to colleagues.
- Running weekly outpatient clinics for medication management and complex case reviews.
- Leading initiatives to assess and manage young individuals with complex presentations, including neurodevelopmental comorbidities and high-risk factors.
- Supporting and developing innovative models for managing neurodevelopmental disorders, including psychoeducation groups for parents and collaborative work with community organizations.
- Providing psychiatric assessments and oversight of pharmacological treatments within the Learning Disability team.
- Consulting with other clinicians and supporting risk assessment and management efforts.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess a primary medical degree, full GMC registration, and relevant qualifications in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Experience in managing neurodevelopmental disorders and strong leadership skills are essential.
