Construction Site Manager

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Construction Site Manager to become part of our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a background in Civil Engineering, with substantial experience in reinforced concrete projects, bridge construction, and formwork systems. This role demands a proactive approach in a high-stakes environment, emphasizing health, safety, environmental standards, and quality assurance.

The Construction Site Manager will oversee a team dedicated to the construction of new reinforced concrete bridges, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality protocols as per company standards and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, and Environmental Management

  • Exhibit strong, visible leadership in promoting health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to achieving safety targets and uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards unsafe practices.
  • Establish and implement site systems and controls aligned with company standards and project specifications.
  • Ensure the preparation and dissemination of risk assessments and method statements to site personnel.
  • Support the health and wellbeing of staff and frontline workers.

Project Planning and Execution

  • Engage in value engineering and assess the constructability of the project.
  • Collaborate with planners to agree on construction methods and timelines.
  • Monitor and control resource requirements, production outputs, and overhead targets.
  • Lead short-term planning efforts and communicate these plans effectively to the site team and supply chain.

Operational Leadership

  • Manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Organize resources for the successful execution of the project, including subcontractor selection.
  • Ensure the procurement of materials and equipment meets project specifications and timelines.
  • Oversee material usage to minimize waste and ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation, including RAMS and inspection checklists, is completed prior to commencing work.
  • Identify and manage temporary works requirements, ensuring safe implementation.
  • Guarantee that project quality standards and handover criteria are met.
  • Address non-conformance reports promptly and effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in Civil Engineering with a strong technical foundation.
  • Proven track record in constructing reinforced concrete structures.
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations and their application.
  • Solid understanding of specifications and testing protocols relevant to civil engineering.
  • Experience in managing a small team and demonstrating initiative.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to produce RAMS and safe work systems.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental management systems.

Educational Background:

  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Membership in a professional engineering institution is desirable.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Additional qualifications such as Temporary Works Supervisor or First Aid are advantageous.
