Quality Assurance Lead – Industrial and Manufacturing - Permanent
We are collaborating with one of the most versatile manufacturing firms in Europe to enhance their operations by seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance Lead. This presents a remarkable long-term opportunity to join a well-established British manufacturer known for its commitment to investment and innovation.
As a proficient Quality Assurance Lead, you will engage with the Quality Management System to establish quality expectations and furnish the necessary tools for quantitative analysis of performance against these benchmarks. The Quality Assurance Lead will participate in regular management reviews aimed at pinpointing quality enhancements. The successful candidate will become part of a family-owned enterprise and will report directly to the Managing/Operations Director.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Lead include:
- Overseeing quality, environmental, and health & safety systems across the organization.
- Initiating audits and approvals by relevant third parties within designated timeframes.
- Managing day-to-day approval maintenance, implementation, and internal audits.
- Providing support for customer audits, inquiries, investigations, and inspection matters.
- Ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance to meet established quality standards.
- Collaborating with Senior Management on quality-related issues and compliance requirements.
- Customizing the Quality Management System to align with business needs.
- Developing quality inspection methodologies to assess product quality.
- Meticulously maintaining records of complaints and non-conformances (8D, ISO, etc.).
- Administering QA documentation to ensure final release under technical and quality standards.
- Working with teams to identify training needs and implement compliance measures.
- Addressing significant customer complaints and implementing containment actions.
- Reporting on quality metrics monthly, including errors, complaints, and credits.
- Updating quality documentation and communicating lessons learned.
- Pursuing ongoing education on new solutions, technologies, and skills.
- Reporting on target achievements and identifying necessary actions for senior management.
- Conducting risk assessments of departmental processes and tasks.
Qualifications and Skills Required for the Quality Assurance Lead:
- Proven experience with internal/external audits and quality assurance.
- Degree or HND, BTEC Professional Level 5 Award, or equivalent NVQ Level 5.
- Experience in a high-volume distribution environment with FAIR/8-D/FMEA skills.
- Ability to engage directly with end users and suppliers.
- Strong teamwork ethic and keen attention to detail.
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and organize workloads.
- Problem-solving mindset with a positive, proactive approach.
- Adept at multitasking and aware of time-sensitive tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with knowledge of quality standards.
- Relevant experience in industrial operations and quality engineering.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes to support business objectives.
- Previous experience leading manufacturing audits and quality initiatives.
- Insight into how quality practices can provide a competitive edge.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and utilize statistical models for capability assessment.
- Experience with raw materials, particularly industrial specification metals.
- Strong IT skills, with experience in ERP systems being advantageous.
