Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage export/import processes for road freight shipments
  • Plan and coordinate transport routes and daily schedules for Europe, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability
  • Ensure effective management of customer collections, packing services, and deliveries
  • Work with customers and office staff to plan routes and schedule delivery times, coordinate drivers, agency drivers, and vehicles
  • Coordinate with customs for clearance and manage customs entry exceptions
  • Manage EU airfreight and EU road courier shipments
  • Discuss and resolve client/supplier problems and complaints
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all aspects of shipping fine art and antiques from one destination to another
  • Assess clients' individual needs on a daily basis, liaising with overseas agents, private collectors, galleries, auction houses, artists, transport companies, etc.
  • Communicate with clients, guiding them through the process of shipping their art/artefacts from different locations
  • Quote and coordinate both domestic and international shipments
  • Arrange customer collections and deliveries, including specialist packing services
  • Prepare and process all documentation and book the chosen method of transportation
  • Efficiently handle paperwork, including bills of lading, labelling, timesheets, and detailed condition reports with photos, customs clearance, and advising customers of required payments
Requirements:
  • Proven track record and knowledge of domestic and European transport operations and planning
  • Good knowledge of current EU transport legislation
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of current EU customs procedures and paperwork requirements
  • Experience of dealing with high-end clients and goods
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Interpersonal skills, discreet, trustworthy, and able to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally
  • A flexible approach to work and capable of managing priorities
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Commercially focused, considering end-to-end costs
