Position Overview
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader in training who is committed to enhancing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) outcomes. This role requires a versatile mindset, innovative thinking, and a proactive approach to spearheading organization-wide improvements in OHCA management. As a key player in our volunteer strategic initiatives, you will contribute to our mission of addressing health disparities across the city. LAS is focused on equipping a new generation with essential lifesaving skills, establishing a Community First Responder program, and initiating a public access defibrillator campaign.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the design, management, and execution of all training programs delivered by the First Responder Department, ensuring adherence to both regulated and non-regulated standards.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing training materials and courses to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies.
- Providing effective daily management within the First Responder Department, including mentorship and support for staff and volunteers.
- Promoting clinical best practices among staff and volunteers, with a strong emphasis on improving survival rates for OHCA.
- Leading various projects and initiatives, ensuring their cost-effective and timely implementation.
- Continuing the advancement of the LAS strategy, particularly focusing on enhancing community health and sustainability in OHCA survival rates.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements:
- Professional or degree-level qualification or equivalent.
- Trainer/educator certification at PGCert Ed/Cert Ed level or minimum RQF L5 equivalent.
- Assessor qualification at a minimum of RQF L3 (CAVA or equivalent).
Experience:
- Background in educational or training services.
- Extensive experience in clinical teaching and assessment.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing quality assurance processes.
- Experience working with OFQUAL regulated awards and regulatory bodies.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively in public.
- Capability to collaborate effectively across departmental and professional boundaries.
- Proficient in employing a comprehensive range of leadership and managerial skills to empower and support individuals and teams.
- Adept at identifying, planning, and prioritizing work effectively.
