Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at the Education Authority. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical
    • Interpret complex data sets, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports to stakeholders.
    • Develop and implement data governance processes and data management competencies to optimize data quality, safety, and value throughout the data life cycle.
    • Identify opportunities to improve data trustworthiness and make recommendations to senior management.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop policies and guidelines for safeguarding data assets.
    • Support data literacy training and development initiatives.
    • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
    • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
    • Assist in measuring data maturity across different domains and describe the benefits of potential improvements.
  • Managerial
    • Work with the Data Analytics and Insights Manager to establish a clear strategic direction for the Insights Centre of Excellence.
    • Direct and manage a team of employees assigned to support the Insights Centre of Excellence.
    • Ensure that employees within the Insights Centre of Excellence are provided with clear structure, roles, and responsibilities.
    • Manage the risk profile of projects and provide early warning on assurance matters.
    • Ensure all deliverables within their function are managed effectively, efficiently, and within scope.
    • Work closely with the Data Analytics and Insights Manager to ensure project deliverables conform to the PM framework.
    • Develop clear and complete documentation and technical records of work done.
  • Cultural
    • Promote the corporate vision, values, and culture of the Education Authority.
    • Deliver/Manage service budget in accordance with financial policy and procedures.
    • Ensure that systems and services meet the needs and standards expected of a leading public service organization.
    • Establish effective quality assurance systems to achieve the highest possible standards of performance.
    • Foster a culture that supports achievement of the authority's Strategic Plan.
    • Investigate complaints and adverse incidents within their areas of responsibility.
    • Encourage a data-informed culture that enables effective decision-making at all levels.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, data quality, and data management. They will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate will also have experience working in a public sector organization and be familiar with relevant legislation and industry best practices.

Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will be based in a location to be discussed and agreed with the Data Analytics and Insights Manager. They will be required to travel across EANI sites to attend meetings, participate in projects, and fulfill their duties and responsibilities. A percentage of off-site working may be required.
