Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Science Examiner to join our team at Pearson. As a Science Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of our assessment processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Marking and Assessment: You will be responsible for marking candidates' responses in accordance with our pre-defined mark scheme, while adhering to our conditions of recognition and examination procedures.
  2. Subject Matter Expertise: A high level of subject knowledge is necessary to apply the mark scheme effectively. You will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of the subject matter and be able to apply this knowledge in a fair and consistent manner.
  3. Administration and Logistics: You will be responsible for submitting samples to your Team Leader at designated times and ensuring that all administration is completed as specified.
  4. Communication and Collaboration: You will work closely with your Team Leader and other examiners to ensure that milestones for marking are adhered to and that all communication is clear and concise.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications and Experience: You will have one academic year's worth of teaching experience within the last 8 years, within the relevant qualification subject, and since qualifying as a teacher. You will also have a degree or equivalent and be a qualified teacher.
  2. Skills and Abilities: You will have the ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and have a high level of subject knowledge in order to apply the mark scheme effectively.
