About the Role: We are collaborating with a leading national contractor seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to enhance their Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) division.

Company Overview: This contractor is among the largest construction and MEP firms in the UK, specializing in Framework and targeted two-stage, negotiated bids. Your responsibilities will involve working closely with teams engaged in projects across various regions.

Project Scope: The projects you will oversee range from £25 million to £150 million, encompassing sectors such as education, Ministry of Justice, office developments, refurbishments, data centers, and commercial/industrial projects.

Key Project: The initial assignment involves a significant redevelopment of an existing correctional facility, necessitating strong collaboration between the construction and in-house M&E services teams. Effective teamwork and seamless information exchange are crucial.

Candidate Profile: We welcome applications from individuals with a background in specialist MEP subcontracting or those from Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors who have experience managing intricate MEP packages on large-scale projects.

Role Responsibilities: Your role will focus on bid and preconstruction phases, collaborating with estimating and design teams to evaluate optimal delivery methods concerning budget, quality, and performance. You will:

  • Identify and engage with specialist subcontractors and in-house delivery teams.
  • Oversee an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on-site.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of M&E components, including subcontract package management, procurement of materials and equipment, remeasurement, valuations, payments, variation accounts, forecasting, and cost value reconciliations.
