Overview of the Position

The Principal Finance Business Consultant will deliver a finance business partnering service with a commercial focus across UCAS' various business sectors, facilitating the achievement of the UCAS strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

Financial Partnership - ensure that the implications of decisions are well understood, performance metrics are monitored, and results are analyzed. Influence strategic decisions, shape the business direction, and ensure the fulfillment of operational, commercial, and financial goals. Assist in the business planning cycle, including forecasting, financial modeling, and business case development, along with efficiency initiatives to guide decision-making. Develop, implement, and sustain a product profitability framework that is forward-looking, automated, and systematized. Collaborate with Product Managers, supported by Finance Business Partners, to enhance their understanding of product margins, profitability, and its implications for strategic product direction. Participate in partnerships and acquisitions by providing financial modeling, integration assistance, and ongoing financial reporting. Assess the performance of new partnerships/acquisitions and coordinate with other Finance Business Partners regarding business impacts. Act as a strategic change agent for financial initiatives: securing buy-in and engagement from diverse stakeholders at all levels.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Qualified accountant or equivalent professional experience with a strong grasp of financial accounting principles and practices. Proven track record of successfully executing several process or systems enhancement projects, preferably in a service-oriented environment utilizing timesheets, while working collaboratively within a cohesive finance team. Experience in managing partnerships and acquisitions. Outgoing, persuasive, and confident communicator with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. Comfortable with detailed analysis while maintaining a broader strategic perspective. Ability to analyze and report at both strategic and operational levels in a concise and agile manner tailored to the audience. Organized and confident in leading projects systematically. The role involves diverse and time-sensitive tasks, requiring a meticulous approach to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables. Inquisitive and continuously seeking improvement; capable of challenging existing processes and exploring innovative solutions. Demonstrated experience in financial performance reporting and planning, with a clear approach to presenting information and making informed recommendations. Highly skilled in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary - up to £60,000
