Academic Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Bureau of Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of academic performance targets, ensuring EFL teachers work effectively and cohesively, and managing the academic services section of our Eastbourne Centre.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the academic services section, including academic administration and student welfare
- Work with the Centre Manager and Head of Academic Quality to ensure teaching quality is monitored, academic school administration is completed to a high standard, welfare standards are maintained, and UKVI compliance is adhered to
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and academic performance
- Lead and manage a team of EFL teachers, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality teaching and learning
- Collaborate with other departments, including Operations, Admissions, Marketing, IT, and Academic Managers in other English Centres, to ensure seamless delivery of services
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including students, parents, and colleagues, to ensure excellent customer service and communication
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and services, making recommendations for improvement
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including UKVI and Accreditation UK
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
- At least three years' full-time teaching experience, including some with young learners
- Experience working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Experience working as part of a team
- IT literate
- Desirable: previous managerial experience, administrative experience, safeguarding training, customer service experience, and ability to speak a second language
- Educated to degree level
- Diploma level qualification (DELTA/Trinity TESOL Diploma and/or MA with a substantial element of observed teaching practice)
- HSE-recognised First Aid certificate (such as St John's First Aid at Work) desirable
Salary: up to £35,000.00 per annum depending on experience
Location: Eastbourne
Contract: Permanent – Full time
Hours: 42.5 per week
