Key Responsibilities:

To address the needs of children through:

  • Ensuring all staff are knowledgeable about each child's care plan and their roles in its execution.
  • Participating in childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide insights and achieve optimal outcomes for young individuals.
  • Engaging directly with young people and serving as a positive role model.
  • Maintaining precise documentation in logs and files to facilitate regular monitoring and evaluation.
  • Leading children's meetings and promoting consultation with young individuals.
  • Acting as an appropriate adult during interviews.

To lead a staff team through:

  • Providing guidance and direction regarding staff duties and responsibilities.
  • Managing shift planning and ensuring smooth operations during duty hours.
  • Offering informal advice and support to staff on daily matters.
  • Conducting one-on-one supervision sessions in accordance with National Minimum Standards.
  • Contributing to team meetings to enhance communication and staff development.
  • Ensuring compliance with the organization's policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and retention of staff, including onboarding new employees.
  • Supervising new hires during their probationary period.
  • Balancing control and guidance while empowering staff to make informed decisions.
  • Identifying and addressing individual training and development needs in line with personal development plans.
  • Conducting annual performance reviews for staff.
  • Addressing conduct and competency issues among staff.
  • Conducting management investigations as necessary.
  • Supporting the Registered Manager in fostering professional growth through appropriate delegation.

General Duties:

  • Assisting the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager in implementing all aspects of the organization's mission.
  • Facilitating in-house workshops on childcare topics to enhance training and practice.
  • Driving company vehicles in accordance with established policies.
  • Working on a rota basis to meet the needs of young individuals.
  • Ensuring proper allocation of resources and accurate financial record-keeping under the direction of management.
  • Receiving supervision in line with quality standards and taking responsibility for personal development.
  • Completing any other reasonable tasks as directed by management.
  • Acting in the absence of the Registered Manager and/or Deputy Manager.

Resource Management:

  • Ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet the needs of the facility.
  • Effectively managing budgets and monitoring financial usage, including petty cash and attendance records.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and regular upkeep of company vehicles.
  • Monitoring the condition of the building and addressing any necessary repairs.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Collaborating with young people and staff to develop routines that enhance childcare practices.
  • Clarifying expectations for maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Creating effective shift schedules that accommodate the needs of children and ensure proper handovers.
  • Establishing appropriate reporting and recording systems to comply with quality standards.
  • Managing all administrative tasks related to the facility and providing weekly management reports.
