Job Overview:

We are looking for a committed and trustworthy Caretaker/Maintenance Technician to become a part of our organization at Discovery Care Group. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance of the care home facility, which is essential for providing a comfortable and secure environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facility Upkeep:
    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and safety systems.
    • Perform repairs and maintenance on both indoor and outdoor facilities, encompassing tasks such as painting, carpentry, and minor electrical work.
    • Quickly address and resolve maintenance issues to maintain a safe and functional environment.
  • Safety Oversight:
    • Regularly check safety equipment, including fire alarms, extinguishers, and emergency lighting.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
    • Assist in emergency procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
  • Grounds Maintenance:
    • Oversee the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, walkways, and parking lots.
    • Clear snow, leaves, and other debris from walkways and entrances.
    • Coordinate and supervise the work of external contractors for significant repairs or landscaping projects.
  • Resident Assistance:
    • Support residents with minor repairs and adjustments within their living spaces.
    • Respond promptly and respectfully to residents' maintenance requests.
    • Build positive relationships with residents to ensure their comfort and well-being.
  • Documentation:
    • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
    • Monitor and document utility usage, reporting any unusual patterns.
    • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Basic DIY skills and a thorough understanding of maintenance procedures.
  • Problem-solving abilities for addressing safety and maintenance issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and scheduling capabilities.

Working Environment:

  • Flexibility to work various hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency maintenance requests on short notice.
