Job Title: Communication and Engagement Manager

Heriot-Watt University is seeking a highly skilled Communication and Engagement Manager to join our TransiT Research Hub team. As a key member of our Support Team, you will play a crucial role in developing and driving all communications and engagement activities for the delivery of the TransiT Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication and engagement strategy to engage industrial and policy stakeholders, as well as the wider public, in the research programme.
  • Manage and facilitate effective stakeholder engagement events, including planning, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Work with key research partners to facilitate joint research events and develop a programme of public involvement and engagement activities.
  • Design and manage effective external and internal communications, including website, social media, print, film, and PR.
  • Build and tell compelling stories of success within TransiT on digital and traditional communication channels.
  • Plan and manage all external press and media communication activity and resources.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level education in a related marketing or communications discipline.
  • Demonstrable professional expertise and experience in communications.
  • Ability to research, analyse, and present complex information and data effectively.
  • Extensive communications and content management experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong copywriting and editing experience.
  • CIM/CIPR/IDM or equivalent Marketing/Comms qualification.
  • Experience within environmental, transport, or policy-making fields.
