Recovery Support Specialist


As a Recovery Support Specialist within the Dependency and Recovery Services, you will engage in a hybrid work model as part of a versatile, multi-disciplinary team, collaborating across various community service locations.


Recovery Support Specialists will possess a diverse skill set to deliver a range of support and interventions across varying complexity levels, demonstrating the ability to operate throughout North London, ensuring adaptability and resilience in response to fluctuating demands.


While some flexibility may be necessary for out-of-office responsibilities, this role primarily adheres to a Monday to Friday schedule from 09:00 to 17:00.


Key Responsibilities:


You will manage a varied caseload of adult male individuals transitioning from prison and those under community supervision within the Probation services, assisting them in executing their action plans and navigating their recovery pathways, fostering trust, and providing ongoing support and guidance.


Your duties will include conducting thorough assessments, developing collaborative action plans, and delivering structured one-on-one and group virtual sessions, while maintaining precise documentation throughout.


Additionally, you will provide services that enhance access to treatment and offer supplementary support and guidance tailored to the needs of individuals on probation, particularly those facing co-occurring substance use disorders and other mental health challenges.


Required Experience:

  • Proven knowledge and experience within the criminal justice sector.
  • Extensive background in the substance misuse field or related areas.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing substantial caseloads, conducting risk assessments, formulating SMART action plans, and maintaining effective case records.
  • Experience in delivering both individual and group interventions utilizing motivational techniques and trauma-informed practices.
