Role Overview

As an Educational Support Assistant at Activate Learning, you will possess experience working with young individuals or adults facing a variety of severe, complex, and moderate learning challenges and/or disabilities and/or behavioral needs.

You will demonstrate resilience and patience, fostering independence in learners and encouraging them to take ownership of their educational journey.
Educational Support Assistants play a crucial role in assisting educators within the classroom and providing support to staff across our campuses. A collaborative working style and the ability to function effectively within a team are essential.

Your primary responsibilities will include aiding students during classroom lessons and facilitating self-directed study sessions on a one-on-one basis. In addition to a student's study plan, you may also be implementing a tailored learning program aimed at enhancing life skills, independence, and employability.

You will be equipped to support students with Autism and related challenges, some of which may be intricate. Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with educators, ensuring the effective delivery of educational programs and working cohesively within a coordination team.

Personal care may be part of your responsibilities, and training will be provided for medical care and support.

Qualifications for Success

To excel as an Educational Support Assistant at Activate Learning, you should:

• Be proficient in IT applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

• Exhibit a creative approach to inspiring learners and an innovative method for delivering support.

• Have experience in a further education setting, although this is not mandatory.

• Hold a Level 3 Support Assistant qualification or equivalent, though this is not a requirement.

A GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English is essential for this position; however, if you do not possess this qualification, opportunities to achieve it are available within Activate Learning.
