Role Overview

As an Educational Support Assistant at Activate Learning, you will have experience working with young individuals or adults who have varying degrees of severe, complex, and moderate learning challenges and/or disabilities and/or behavioral needs.

You will be a resilient and patient individual, dedicated to fostering independence in learners and encouraging them to take ownership of their educational journey.
Educational Support Assistants provide crucial assistance to educators within the classroom and support to staff across our campuses. A collaborative working style and the ability to function effectively as part of a team are essential.

Your primary responsibilities will include aiding students during their classroom lessons and supporting self-directed study sessions on a one-on-one basis. In addition to a student's academic program, you may also be implementing a tailored learning plan to enhance their life skills, independence, and employability.

You will be equipped to assist students with Autism and related challenges, some of which may be intricate. Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with educators to ensure the effective delivery of further education programs and to work cohesively within a coordination team.

Personal care responsibilities may be part of this role, and training will be provided for medical care and support.

What You Need to Succeed as an Educational Support Assistant at Activate Learning

As an Educational Support Assistant, you will:

• Be proficient in IT applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

• Possess a creative approach to engaging learners and an innovative method for delivering support.

• Have experience in a further education environment, which would be beneficial but is not mandatory.

• Hold a Level 3 Support Assistant qualification or equivalent, though this is not a requirement.

A GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths and English is essential for this position; however, if you do not possess this, opportunities to obtain these qualifications are available within Activate Learning.
