Salary:

Band D £34,905 to £37,173 per annum or Band E £43,116 to £47,076 per annum (dependent on skills and experience).

Role Overview: Within the compliance team of the Hartree Centre, the successful candidate will assist the center in meeting its obligations in accordance with quality and information security frameworks, as well as applicable information rights laws and regulations, including but not limited to ISO9001, 27001, UK GDPR, DPA 2018, and FoIA 2000.

Reporting Structure: You will report to the Compliance Group Leader, with your senior line manager being the Associate Director - Infrastructure & Compliance. Daily interactions will involve communication with Hartree Centre staff at all levels.

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the role and the requirement to support diverse projects, the successful candidate must complete national pre-employment control checks to the BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) to fulfill the role. Upon employment, you will need to successfully complete a Security Check (SC) clearance.


Key Responsibilities:

- Proactively manage the integrated management system for ISO 9001 and 27001, conduct internal audits, and support the implementation of security frameworks such as Cyber Essentials+ and CAF.

- Develop and maintain the information governance strategy, ensuring effective communication and policy adherence while liaising with UKRI on governance matters.

- Provide guidance on data protection, freedom of information, and ensure compliance for both new and ongoing projects.

- Review legislative compliance for projects, support Data Protection Impact Assessments, risk assessments, threat modeling, and investigate security incidents involving personal data.

- Advise on risk mitigation strategies.

- Enhance awareness and understanding of information security and governance through staff updates, training sessions, and workshops.

- Pursue continuous professional development to remain informed about best practices and new developments in the field.


Candidate Profile:
Band D:
- Possess a relevant IT degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

- Demonstrate a solid understanding of applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 27001), data protection legislation, and information governance legislation, such as GDPR and DPIAs.

- Experience in risk management and conducting risk assessments.

- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication, team motivation, and problem-solving abilities. Provide clear guidance at all levels.

- Be organized, methodical, flexible, and capable of working independently while demonstrating good listening, reflection, and influencing skills.


Band E:
- In addition to the above, candidates should also possess three of the following:

- Hold a relevant professional qualification such as CISSP, ISACA CISM, or be a certified ISO 27001 internal auditor with substantial experience.

- Have significant internal auditor experience, including interviewing, report writing, and compiling key point summaries for management.

- Contribute significantly to achieving ISO 9001 or 27001 certification, with experience in creating risk assessments, monitoring, and developing KPIs and policy writing that positively impacts the organization.

- Possess advanced skills in Microsoft 365, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as using Teams, SharePoint, and PowerBI for report creation.

- Have experience in people management, such as leading a team, managing organizational change, or mentoring junior staff.
