Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising the output of team members, ensuring a thorough review process for accuracy in figures submitted to Front Office, Risk, and Finance as necessary.
- Critically assessing and questioning the PNL provided by team members.
- Executing end-of-day predictions where applicable, and probing into variances with traders' forecasts to comprehend the economic factors influencing the profit/loss (market fluctuations, new transactions, strategies, etc.).
- Generating official PNL figures, examining discrepancies against prior expectations, and elucidating the economic rationale behind the profit/loss (market shifts, new agreements, strategies, etc.).
- Conducting an in-depth review of the PNL explanation and rectifying inaccuracies when no technical solution is available to correct misallocations.
- Analyzing risk-based market PNL and documenting differences against the PNL explanation until the discrepancies are fully understood.
- Reconciling system valuations with our calculations for specific financial instruments such as futures and bonds.
- Assessing anticipated cash flows from complex financial products.
- Validating adjustments in the economic PNL and providing explanations as needed to support management.
- Offering mentorship to team members on intricate instruments and general PNL construction.
- Delivering minor projects or clearly defined tasks within larger initiatives to enhance operational support for the business.
- Actively engaging in meetings to represent the PNL Control function, contributing expertise to projects and initiatives that would benefit the team through our established framework.
- Building relationships with the business to gain insights into their requirements, facilitating necessary changes to enhance service quality, thereby fostering and maintaining Front Office relationships grounded in trust, respect, and professionalism.
