We are seeking to recruit multiple Senior Hydraulic Modelling Specialists to join our team for various significant long-term projects across the UK.

About The Team:

Our Water Consulting team comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts who provide Asset Management and Operational Strategy development to our Water Industry clients, supporting business planning and execution.

This dynamic industry presents challenges and opportunities that necessitate innovation, commitment, and teamwork to meet our clients' requirements.


In addition to the United Utilities framework, we collaborate with several major water companies across the UK, maintaining a broad portfolio of long-term framework agreements.

Our Water Consultancy division is engaged in prestigious AMP8 programmes leading into AMP9 and beyond, ensuring a secure career path for the next two decades, leaving a lasting impact.


About You:

Applicants should have prior experience in urban drainage projects, along with expertise in InfoWorks ICM and relevant GIS software.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong teamwork abilities and the capacity to integrate seamlessly into a collaborative environment.

Moreover, they will have the opportunity to develop their skills as a mentor and provide technical guidance to other modelling professionals, demonstrating leadership in urban drainage contexts while prioritising exceptional client service.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all health and safety, quality, and environmental aspects of projects.
  • Technical development and execution of wastewater catchment strategies and solutions (including hydraulic modelling and analysis, model use studies, optioneering, and cost-benefit analysis studies, adhering to timelines, budgets, and required quality).
  • Awareness of solution feasibility and buildability engineering factors.
  • Continuous enhancement of tools, procedures, and processes to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Ensure quality of outputs and compliance with standards, specifications, and governance requirements.
  • Responsible for and reporting on commercial performance, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Preparation of bids and proposals.
  • Travel to client sites and/or other Tetra Tech offices may be necessary.
  • Lead a team to build, maintain, and manage strong collaborative relationships with clients.
  • Line Management of project team members, responsible for: day-to-day leadership and direction for the team, workload planning and prioritisation, provision of technical direction and support, driving staff performance, motivation, and career development.

Foster relationships and collaboration with wider Tetra Tech disciplines.


About You:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant technical field. Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • Chartered membership of relevant professional institutions (CIWEM, IOW, ICE or equivalent) would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and water industry regulations.
  • Technical leadership in wastewater catchment planning, industry regulation, and legislation.
  • Ability to manage (or assist project managers in managing) small to large projects/packages and programmes of work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage staff at all levels, including line management of less experienced colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Expertise in using InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange.
  • Deep knowledge in hydraulic modelling, catchment planning, and/or related wastewater infrastructure areas, taking responsibility for delivering specialist, complex, or innovative projects, ensuring compliance with client standards and specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS 365 applications, with knowledge in key areas such as advanced Excel, PowerBI, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with GIS Systems (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience with FME, Optimatics, Python (or similar) would be an advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably degree qualified in a relevant technical field. Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
  • Chartership or working towards chartership for Senior or Principal grades.
  • Affiliation with a professional institution like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or in the process of working towards membership and nearing application.
