Regional Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Operations Manager to join our team at Gregory Distribution. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of approximately 60 staff members, including drivers and office personnel, to ensure maximum performance in terms of commercial contract efficiency, profit, and client service levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve maximum performance and efficiency.
  • Own the safety and legal compliance of transport operations within the region.
  • Ensure customer service exceeds expectations through effective communication and achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage commercial aspects, including profit and loss accountability, and take necessary actions to achieve targeted profit and commercial aims.
  • Anticipate and manage changes generated by business growth and changing customer requirements.
  • Direct resources to ensure services are delivered in line with contractual customer requirements.
  • Coordinate operations with other depots to maintain consistency and quality of service.
  • Develop and implement processes to exceed customer requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities and take proactive measures to protect profit targets.
  • Maximize resource utilization by planning ahead and using assets efficiently.
  • Ensure drivers develop and maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Drive the culture and continued development of direct and indirect staff within the region.
  • Recommend continuous improvements in operational requirements affecting transport operations.
  • Ensure operation within the limits of LGV legislation, including 'O' licence conditions, drivers' hours, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain Safe Systems of Work and observe all Company Health & Safety policies and rules.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in the logistics industry, with exposure to transport and customer management.
  • Previous experience in developing strategic and continuous improvement plans.
  • CPC National & / or International qualification.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and individuals, with a track record of leading successful change.
  • Strong evidence of customer relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both internally and externally.
  • Good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours, and WTDs.
  • IT literacy, including MS Office, with strong analytical ability in reviewing data and reports.
  • Previous knowledge of Mandata and other transport management systems is desirable.

  • Remuneration package worth between £50,000pa - £55,000pa, depending on experience.
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, from 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs.
