We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Baldock Manor, a 40-bed hospital in north Hertfordshire providing specialist psychiatric services for adults.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead a comprehensive treatment service for patients with mental health problems, based on evidence-based practice.
- Provide expert advice on psychiatric care and take overall responsibility for a defined caseload of patients.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to foster positive working relationships and ensure effective care delivery.
- Oversee the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring systems are in place for appraisal and revalidation.
- Identify and escalate concerns about psychiatrists' conduct or performance.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to other Consultant Psychiatrists.
- Represent the business externally, raising the profile of the business and establishing working relationships with commissioners, community teams, and other key partners.
- Participate in quality enhancement and service evaluation projects, and undertake research relevant to service improvement.
- Lead the CPD programme for the hospital and foster a culture of learning.
- Approved Clinician status
- Section 12(2) approved
- A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and in good CPD standing
- Current registration with GMC
- At least five years' experience in an in-patient setting
- Experience of working in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
- Experience of working in Acute Services (Male or Female)
- Ability to take independent clinical decisions and demonstrate clinical leadership
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice
- In-depth knowledge of MHA and MCA
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written
- Up-to-date with current practices in in-patient Psychiatry
- Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need
- Evidence of participation in audit
