About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Lead to join our team at Daksta | Connecting Mission Critical Talent. As a Senior Mechanical Design Lead, you will be responsible for leading and delivering design, construction, and installation projects for major/complex contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
    • Leads in the development, design, and delivery of engineering projects/services to agreed client requirements, budgets, profit margins, quality standards
    • Ensures projects are appropriately resourced, identifying and securing the changes needed in advance of it becoming a project delivery issue
    • Provides expert mechanical engineering input
    • Mentors, coaches, and develops less experienced members of the team
  • Technical/Project Management:
    • Leads and delivers design, construction, and installation projects
    • Carries out cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of project fee proposals
    • Works closely with clients and project team to establish project requirements
    • Reviews status advised by project personnel and external parties and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for Management, Client, or others.
    • Represents the Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractor teams
    • Carries out engineering reviews to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
    • Supports clients in the tender and procurement of MEP contractors and MEP equipment
    • Leads the coordination of engineering services, together with hands-on delivery of concept and detailed designs
    • Ensures risk and performance monitoring analysis takes place through effective systems of internal control and delegation
    • Ensures project delivery from a Project Management, Contract management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective
    • Manages design compliance with the latest CDM regulations.
  • Experience:
    • Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
    • C.Eng status would be beneficial
    • Significant experience in specification design for a range of building types/sectors including data centres
    • Experienced at confidently representing other engineering services disciplines in client meetings
    • Sound knowledge & working application of key health and safety issues/legislation
    • Appreciation & working knowledge of contract and business law
    • High level of experience in chairing and facilitating project team meetings
