Job Title: Project Designer

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Designer to join our team at RED Engineering Design. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and cooperate with multiple team members and duty holders to ensure compliance with relevant duties.
  • Provide pre-construction information to designers, the principal contractor, and contractors.
  • Assist clients in validating health and safety credentials of contractors.
  • Undertake safety by design review workshops.
  • Attend client meetings during all phases of the project and advise on Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Guide the design team and client through Health and Safety requirements throughout the project.
  • Organize design risk workshops and review designers' risk assessments.
  • Liaise with client representatives, Principal Contractor, and contractors regarding health and safety.
  • Review Principal Contractors' information, including Construction Phase Health and Safety plans.
  • Produce and issue fee schedules and responsible for project reporting internally.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role with a focus on Construction Design Management.
  • Experience working on projects largely led by MEP services.
  • Data Centre and/or large-scale infrastructure project experience.
  • Knowledge of MEP building services would be useful.
  • NEBOSH Diploma essential.
  • Ideal experience of appropriate H&S procedures in an engineering consultancy environment in the construction sector and specifically relating to site visitors and professionals compared to contractors and site operatives.
  • Ideal working knowledge and experience of the UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and their applicability to design consultants in the built environment.
  • You understand risk assessment and mitigation methods and ability to identify the most effective techniques and tools to use.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Presentation and training skills.
  • Fluent English speaker (essential) with other language skills (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical building systems preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate with designers and contractors.
  • Delivery of contract and program management - managing contractors' progress, information, and document flow, etc.
  • Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
