GSL Education is seeking committed SEND Teaching Assistants to join primary schools. We have several openings available for both full-time and part-time roles, and we welcome applications from candidates with diverse availability. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include assisting students with additional needs and challenging behaviors, both individually and in small groups within the classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify teaching approaches to cater to the distinct needs of each student
  • Prepare instructional materials for lesson plans
  • Assist students on a one-on-one basis or in small groups
  • Collaborate with classroom educators to promote effective learning
  • Engage with professionals such as speech and language therapists
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure the best support for students
  • Build positive relationships with students and fellow staff members

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in supporting students with additional needs, including ADHD, Autism, and challenging behaviors
  • Familiarity with assisting young individuals on the autism spectrum
  • Understanding of special education methodologies and strategies
  • Capability to work with lead educators to create and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs)
  • Prior experience in a primary educational environment
  • A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in the UK
