Job Description

Role Overview

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with diverse additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and adapt learning materials and lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Ensure the physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and young people, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop engaging and creative strategies to interact with students, fostering positive relationships and encouraging independence.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and physiotherapists, to provide comprehensive support.
  • At times, deliver personal care to students, demonstrating empathy and understanding.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of experience in an educational or healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience supporting children, young people, or adults with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or physical disabilities.
  • Willingness to provide personal care when needed.
  • Passion and dedication to supporting individuals with additional needs, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Relevant qualification at Level 2 or higher, such as a Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
