We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult and Children's Counsellor to join our team at Powys Teaching Health Board. As a key member of our primary care team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychological interventions to individuals with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Key Duties
  1. Provide a comprehensive, accessible, and responsive service to referred individuals, focusing on recovery and outcomes.
  2. Work in partnership with individuals and others to assess mental health, wellbeing, and social needs.
  3. Negotiate achievable and meaningful goals, seeking means to achieve them, and clarifying responsibilities of those providing help.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in counselling and psychotherapy, with a registered or accredited qualification (BACP/BABCP or equivalent). A postgraduate qualification in counselling or a related therapy, or significant relevant experience, is also essential. Additionally, you should have evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to challenging discriminatory beliefs and behaviour.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • CBT accreditation with BABCP
  • Certificate or diploma in CBT - or working towards these
  • Training in providing clinical supervision
  • Evidence of further training in psychological interventions / therapy
  • Experience working in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression
  • An awareness of serious mental health presentations (psychosis, bi-polar)
