**Support Worker - Llys Glan Yr Afon**
Adferiad Recovery delivers a flexible and coordinated response to the exceptional circumstances faced by people with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions and related issues. Vulnerable people facing complex life challenges need consistent and seamless support to ensure they remain engaged with vital health and wellbeing services - and to prevent them becoming disenfranchised and isolated.
**Hours**:Part Time (8 hours minimum) up to full time 37.5 hours per week
**Salary**:£12.10 per hour (FTE £23658.53) plus salary enhancements for Unsocial hours & Bank Holiday Enhancements
£13.86 p/h enhanced (20.00 - 08.00am Mon-Sunday)
£11.94 p/h weekends (08.00 - 20.00 Saturday & Sunday)

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated support team based at Llys Glan Yr Afon - Newtown.
Llys Glan Yr Afon comprises of 48 individual apartments offering those that live there, independent living with access to on-site 24-hour care and support. The service is generic and therefore supports individuals with a wide age range and variety of support needs - including physical disability, mental health, learning disability and frailty.
This 48-apartment development was built in partnership with Powys County Council and is situated in a picturesque location on the banks of the River Severn. Newtown is the largest town in Powys, with an abundance of shops, restaurants and cafes close by, plus a cinema and theatre.
As a support worker you will be working 1:1 (occasionally 2:1) as part of a dedicated support team providing individuals with day-to-day living support which may include support with personal care, medication, manual handling and social inclusion, while focusing on promoting the wellbeing, rights and independence of the individual, and achieving their identified and desired outcomes.
Rosters are carefully created and managed to ensure continuity of support staff for individuals and promote good work/life balance for support staff.
**Role Responsibilities**:
All Adferiad Support Workers will have and be given the qualifications, experience, and competencies commensurate with the levels of care they are expected to provide and in accordance with the Social Services Wellbeing Act:
This includes supporting individuals if required with:
- All aspects of personal care
- Mobility and transfers - all staff are trained in accordance with the All-Wales Manual Handling Passport
- Administration of prescribed oral medication - all staff must complete Agored Cymru accredited Medication Training
- Social Inclusion - accessing the local community and participating activities of their choice
**And**:
- Completion of detailed observations and reports in relation to individuals which can be shared with health professionals to ensure adequate care arrangements are in place from statutory/voluntary services to meet the individuals needs if continued care and ongoing support is required
- Communicate effectively with Health Care Professionals, individuals, their families and Carers
- Continuous professional development, attending and completing training as required
- Carrying out all reasonable tasks commensurate with the post as directed by line manager
- Implementing the Adferiad Equal Opportunities Policy and all other Adferiad policies and procedures
- Working to a rolling shift pattern - including mornings, evenings, and weekends
- To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults

**Qualifications**:
- There are no specific qualifications at this point but there must be evidence of commitment to personal and career development relevant to the post
- NVQ / QCF Competencies in Health & Social Care Level 2 or higher would provide some evidence of competence for the post. All staff would be required to hold or complete this as part of their employment in order to register with Social Care Wales
**Experience**:
No experience is essential for this post - however, we use a Values based recruitment, to find people whose personal values match with the organisation's (and that of the individuals we support)
**Knowledge**:
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
- Must have a basic understanding / be able to give examples of domiciliary care support that is delivered in individuals homes
- To understand responsibilities of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and children
