Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to become a vital part of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products sourced from our suppliers not only meet but exceed our rigorous quality standards. This position will involve occasional travel for supplier engagements and assessments.

As quality is paramount, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products align with the expectations of our global brand. You will collaborate within a cross-functional team, providing support to procurement, quality assurance, and design in all matters related to supplier quality. Your efforts will assist in maintaining supplier performance metrics and dynamic order management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular on-site evaluations of suppliers to assess performance and provide feedback to the organization.
  • Execute root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions, ensuring thorough verification of supplier non-conformities.
  • Analyze supplier data and manufacturing workflows, partnering with suppliers to identify process enhancements and value-adding opportunities.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives at supplier facilities to minimize waste and optimize product cycle times.
  • Assist in supplier evaluations and product audits to guarantee compliance with quality systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring supplier components meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Encourage the adoption of preferred internal techniques for ongoing improvement.

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in manufacturing or engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Quality and Supplier Quality Assurance practices.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and GRP construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and tools (LSS Yellow/Green belt is advantageous).
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive optimal performance.
