Position Overview
We are currently in search of a Supplier Development Engineer to enhance our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products sourced from our suppliers not only meet but exceed our quality standards while aligning with our rigorous internal manufacturing protocols. This position may involve travel for supplier engagements and assessments.
Quality assurance is critical in this role, as you will be tasked with guaranteeing that all products fulfill the expectations of our esteemed global brand. You will collaborate within a cross-functional team, providing essential support to procurement, quality assurance, and design regarding supplier quality matters. Your efforts will also assist in managing supplier performance metrics and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular visits to suppliers to evaluate performance and provide feedback to the organization.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions, ensuring thorough verification of reported supplier non-conformities.
- Analyze supplier data and manufacturing processes, working closely with suppliers to identify opportunities for process enhancements and value improvements.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement at supplier facilities to minimize waste and optimize product cycle times.
- Support supplier evaluations and product audits to ensure compliance with quality systems and manufacturing processes.
- Assist in the launch of new products, ensuring that supplier components meet all specifications and quality standards.
- Encourage the adoption of preferred internal techniques for ongoing improvement.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree in manufacturing or engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
- Background in Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Management.
- Proficient understanding of mechanical engineering and GRP construction drawings.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and tools; certifications such as LSS Yellow/Green belt are advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
