About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our Portfolio Management Office (PMO) at BT Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of our transformation programmes and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and Implement PMO Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive PMO strategy that aligns with our business objectives and ensures the effective management of our transformation programmes.
  • Lead PMO Team: Lead a team of PMO professionals responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of our transformation programmes and projects.
  • Establish Reporting Methodology: Establish a robust and consistent reporting methodology that provides timely and accurate information to our stakeholders.
  • Design and Implement Tooling Suite: Design and implement a strategic tooling suite that enables the automation of key processes and improves the efficiency of our PMO.
  • Develop Assurance Programme: Develop a comprehensive assurance programme that ensures the effective management of our transformation programmes and projects.
  • Identify Lessons Learnt: Identify lessons learnt and key themes across our portfolio that can benefit other programmes.
  • Track Cost and Benefits Realisation: Track cost and benefits realisation across our portfolio and ensure that our business case is well-managed.
  • Run Change Control Process: Run the Change Control process, which formally approves changes to scope, milestones, costs, and benefits.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Proactively engage with our stakeholders to ensure that our programmes have access to the resources they need to support transformation.
  • Build Strategic Network: Build a strategic network across our function, inputting to management information and decision-making, communicating reports and variances, and working closely with business managers to ensure integration and alignment.
Requirements
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the levers that drive commercial and financial performance, and what we need to dial up and dial down to maximise commercial performance.
  • Delivery Planning: Ability to develop a delivery planning approach to ensure the allocation of suitable resource to the delivery of large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Works with key stakeholders to embed key performance tracking and assurance processes.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Provide reporting expertise, able to effectively store and manage data across a complex suite of data management systems and create insightful reporting using a variety of reporting tools.
  • Data Analysis and Insight: Strong analytical capability, able to communicate complex data in a simple, meaningful way for different stakeholder groups.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Broad Understanding of Business Market: Broad understanding of the business market, competitors, customers, and product and proposition portfolio.
  • Proven Experience of Running PMOs: Proven experience of running PMOs for a portfolio of diverse programmes.
  • Proven Experience in Creating Intelligent Reporting Suites: Proven experience in creating intelligent reporting suites that can be rolled out on a large scale.
  • Understanding of Suitable Performance Metrics: Understanding of suitable performance metrics for projects delivered by different delivery methods (agile and waterfall).
