Position Overview

To oversee and collaborate with the Urology Theatre teams, ensuring exceptional care for patients while serving as a key resource in this specialty. To strategize and manage the execution of personalized care plans for patients during the perioperative phase as part of the theatre team. To mentor, guide, and assess junior staff, students, and support personnel. To adhere to Professional Codes and statutory regulations in practice. The individual in this role will be expected to achieve objectives outlined during Personal Development Reviews. To operate flexibly across various areas of the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust as directed by the Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Matron to meet service demands. To engage as part of a 24-hour unit, participating in on-call duties, weekend shifts, and night shifts.

We are in search of a registered theatre professional to join our dedicated and supportive team, committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care within dynamic and diverse departments. We are looking to fill a Band 6 position for an Operating Department Practitioner or Nurse. This role involves leading and collaborating with the Urology Theatre teams, ensuring top-notch care for patients and acting as a resource for this specialty.

You will be responsible for planning and managing the implementation of individualized care programs for patients throughout their perioperative journey, whether in our acute or community settings.

You will receive a comprehensive in-house induction and competency program, along with a Theatre Practitioner Band 6 Skills and Expectations Development Program. Our support extends beyond initial training; our Clinical Educators are available in the clinical setting to provide guidance and encouragement whenever needed. Additionally, we offer a Royal Devon-wide Buddy scheme and opportunities for further training to support your ongoing professional development and career advancement.

General Theatre Responsibilities - Engage in a variety of specialties in both elective and emergency settings, including Orthopaedic Trauma, ENT, Max-Fac, Plastics, Breast, Vascular, General Surgery (including upper GI/Colorectal), and Urology (including robotic procedures). The Anaesthetic Team also covers Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the Centre for Women's Health, as well as a wide range of remote area Anaesthesia across the hospital.

Work Schedule: A combination of day and late shifts over four days, including one weekend in four and on-call duties from home.
