Lead Lawyer

About the Role:
Cumberland Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Lawyer to join our Children's legal team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of children social care work, including the preparation of cases before the Family Court and providing legal advice and assistance across all levels of the local authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a caseload of children social care work, including the preparation of cases before the Family Court
- Provide legal advice and assistance across all levels of the local authority
- Work as part of the extended leadership team to ensure the provision of the most appropriate and cost-effective management of the team's work
- Contribute to the management of the wider legal services and support the organisation in achieving and maintaining a high standard of corporate governance
Requirements:
- Qualified and admitted solicitors, barristers, or legal executives
- Experience and knowledge of children social care law
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Open and honest approach to management
