Job Title: Lead Lawyer - Children

About the Role:

Cumberland Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Lawyer to join our Children's legal team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of children social care work, including the preparation of cases before the Family Court and providing legal advice and assistance across all levels of the local authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle a caseload of children social care work, including the preparation of cases before the Family Court
  • Provide legal advice and assistance across all levels of the local authority
  • Work as part of the extended leadership team to ensure the provision of the most appropriate and cost-effective management of the team's work
  • Contribute to the management of the wider legal services and support the organisation in achieving and maintaining a high standard of corporate governance

Requirements:

  • Qualified and admitted solicitors, barristers, or legal executives
  • Experience and knowledge of children social care law
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Open and honest approach to management
