Position Overview
Morrison Energy Services is seeking a Lead Commercial Strategist to join our Renewable Connections Business Unit.

As the Lead Commercial Strategist, you will be an integral member of our senior leadership team, responsible for ensuring the effective and safe execution of projects within the Renewable Connections sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the Business Unit's projects, collaborating with the Business Unit Contract Director to assess and enhance its effectiveness.
  • Guide project teams in formal resolutions with clients and suppliers, ensuring a strategic approach.
  • Act as a prominent leader in all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) matters.
  • Oversee, mentor, and lead commercial personnel on projects, providing necessary training to facilitate their career advancement.
  • Evaluate contract documents during the tender phase, offering commercial strategies and identifying potential issues along with solutions for discussion.
  • Conduct collaborative project Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reviews with the Business Unit Contract Director and Finance Business Partner.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly CVR summary reports for distribution and presentation.
  • Work closely with the Business Unit Finance Team and Project Teams to ensure a solid forecast of financial performance and Business Plan objectives.
  • Maximize income and cash flow while monitoring performance against projections.
  • In partnership with the Business Unit Contract Director, take charge of preparing and presenting Business Plans, ensuring regular updates and reviews.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients and their professional teams to support new business acquisition and minimize contract disputes.
  • Deliver commercial training to both commercial and operational teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the region's commercial performance and assist the Divisional Commercial Director in enhancing sector performance.
  • Review project-based commercial teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including issuing notices for time and costs to clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensure teams effectively manage changes and negotiate entitlements to time and financial compensation with clients.
  • Supervise the procurement of subcontractors to ensure optimal value selection and foster strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Support commercial teams and oversee (and in some cases directly manage) all aspects of subcontractor accounts and issue resolution.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree qualified.
  • Experience with standard forms of contracts such as NEC 3/4, JCT, and FIDIC.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proven experience in reviewing contract terms and negotiating with clients.
  • Strong leadership and development skills.
