About the Role
De Montfort University Leicester is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Media Officer to join its Marketing and Communications Directorate. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying and delivering opportunities for the university across national and international media channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Press and PR Manager to develop and implement media relations strategies that enhance the university's reputation and profile.
- Identify and pitch compelling news stories to national and international media outlets, showcasing the university's research, innovation, and achievements.
- Provide professional media and communications advice to academic and other colleagues across the university, helping to protect and promote the institution's reputation.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and implement high-quality media communications, in line with university priorities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts, building and maintaining a strong network of media influencers.
Requirements
- Significant professional experience as a newspaper journalist or as a PR professional with experience of working in media or PR in a large, complex organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with media contacts and colleagues.
- Strong media relations and communications skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective media strategies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
