Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced construction or property professional to join our team as Deputy Head of Capital Projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic projects team in delivering the annual capital plan for our diverse estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to guide strategic decisions regarding estate planning and capital development, contributing to the Trust's overall estate strategy and site masterplan.
  • Oversee the implementation of the agreed estate strategy and site masterplan, ensuring projects align with the capital plan. This includes managing building design, capital scheme programs, and project management activities.
  • Support the Estates team in delivering comprehensive asset management services for land, property, and equipment (both clinical and non-clinical). This involves developing and maintaining databases for buildings and equipment within the Trust.
  • Effectively manage the overall capital budget for all capital schemes, ensuring adherence to financial constraints and preventing year-end overspending.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as building or major capital development.
  • Significant experience working strategically with senior stakeholders within and outside the organization to achieve strategic goals.
  • Proven project management skills, enabling you to drive projects to successful and timely conclusions.
  • Expertise in interpreting and implementing corporate and national policies related to building standards (HBNs, HTMs, British Standards, BREEAM etc.).
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrable experience working in a UK healthcare setting involving the management of estates-related assets. This includes land, property, and equipment acquisition and disposal through capital purchase or lease agreements.
  • Direct experience managing a Health Care Trust's estates service & information return such as ERIC, PAM, or PLACE.
