Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead sustainability initiatives for large-scale infrastructure projects, integrating environmental considerations into design and delivery.
  • Oversee Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), manage multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure environmental considerations are effectively integrated into project plans.
  • Secure environmental consents & permits for infrastructure projects, leveraging your expertise in the UK planning system.
  • Manage Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR), ensuring compliance and liaising with regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement carbon reduction strategies across project lifecycles, including embedded and operational carbon.
  • Manage relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on environmental and sustainability goals.
  • Lead environmental and sustainability workstreams within scope, budget, and timelines, delivering high-quality results.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading sustainability initiatives for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive experience overseeing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and experience securing environmental consents & permits.
  • Practical understanding of Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) and experience managing permits.
  • Technical environmental knowledge, including ecology, air quality, noise, landscape, water, and sustainability sub-disciplines.
  • Knowledge of developing and implementing carbon reduction strategies.
  • Experience managing relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead environmental and sustainability workstreams within scope, budget, and timelines.

Desirable:

  • Chartered Membership, holding or working towards chartership (e.g., CEnv, IEMA).
  • Experience with green infrastructure and sustainable construction practices.
  • Knowledge of climate resilience and adaptation strategies for infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle assessment, sustainability metrics, and carbon footprint analysis tools.
  • Understanding of environmental law and regulatory processes related to infrastructure development.

Low-Carbon Technologies:

Exposure to renewable energy and low-carbon technologies applicable to infrastructure projects.
