About the Role

We are seeking an experienced BSL Communication Support Worker to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team at Croydon College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to hearing-impaired learners with or without an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or SEN Support Plan across both the Croydon and Coulsdon campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver support to hearing-impaired learners, helping them to overcome barriers and realise their potential.
  • Provide 1:1 and group interventions, as well as therapeutic sessions, to maximise student independence and meet EHCP outcomes.
  • Work in conjunction with the ALS Manager to create an inclusive and collaborative approach in coordinating support for the teaching, learning, and assessment of hearing-impaired students.
  • Liaise closely with parents/carers and college staff, provide advice and guidance, implement PEEPs and risk assessments, and provide support in unstructured times.
Requirements
  • Education to Level 3 standard with a minimum of Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Level 3 BSL qualification (Signature / CACDP).
  • Practical experience of using BSL or SSE.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
