Job Title: Lead Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Lead Engineer to join our team at Spire Hartswood Hospital. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for maintaining the equipment, grounds, building, team, and statutory compliance paperwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of 5 engineers and ensure the effective maintenance of all engineering services and equipment.
  • Develop and implement a cost-effective, planned, and preventative maintenance program using our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Drive the team towards achieving 100% statutory compliance audits.
  • Manage external contractors providing specialist services to building services and plant equipment.
  • Ensure all services and equipment are maintained and repaired in accordance with current guidance and Spire Policy.
  • Support in the accurate record keeping and easy retrieval filing of documentation for all services and equipment.
  • Provide out-of-hours emergency on-call service and in-house day-to-day maintenance service.
  • Identify personal training and development requirements and support the Essex Hub Engineering Manager in fire safety management.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years' experience in Electrical/Mechanical/DHW/Maintenance Engineering.
  • Leadership experience within the Engineering/Maintenance industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Hold relevant certificates and be willing to undertake specialist training in specific areas.
  • Knowledge of building services is a must.
  • Fault finding and resolution skills, ability to prioritize demands against resources, and assure hospital compliance with changing legislation.
  • Highly literate and numerate, with excellent communication skills that drive results, enthusiasm, and improvement within the team.
  • IT literate and a competent user of the MS Office suite of products.
  • Results-driven, high levels of determination and initiative, and proactive with self-motivation.
