Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is excited to announce a partnership with Harborough District Council to recruit a Head of Financial Services role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic support to the Director of Resources and senior officers, focusing on all aspects of local government finance applicable to a district council.
The role requires strategic engagement with council members, officers, and partners, as well as leading a team that supports finance, budget setting, and monitoring, treasury management, and transactional finance.
To succeed in this role, you will need to be an experienced finance professional with excellent communication skills, able to motivate and support your team, and work effectively across team and service boundaries.
You will also need to be a qualified accountant with a strong understanding of local government finance and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic support to the Director of Resources and senior officers
- Lead a team that supports finance, budget setting, and monitoring, treasury management, and transactional finance
- Develop and implement financial strategies to achieve council objectives
- Manage and maintain financial systems and processes
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant with a strong understanding of local government finance
