About the Role

Hays Accountancy and Finance is partnering with a leading international legal group to recruit a highly skilled Trust and Tax Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established organization and contribute to the success of their Tax, Trust, and Succession group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the timely preparation of trust accounts and tax returns, including inheritance tax returns, and deal with HM Revenue and Customs as required.
  • Calculate trustees' liabilities to IHT, CGT, and Income Tax, and make use of annual exemptions.
  • Deal with payments and distributions from trusts, both capital and discretionary income distributions.
  • Manage your own caseload, client relationships, and engage with all those involved, proactively managing clients to ensure any tax-planning and/or succession planning issues are considered.
  • Prepare and attend trustee meetings, activate investment reviews, monitor the performance of investments, prepare/review investment policy statements, and manage relationships to deal with beneficiaries, drafting deeds, and associated policies.
  • Review and interpret trust deeds and related documentation, and delegate/supervise the work of more junior members of the team.
Requirements
  • Experience in a similar position, with an understanding of trust accounts, taxation of trusts, income tax, and experience with computerized accounts along with Trust/Tax software.
  • A proactive team player, highly self-motivated, and able to work on your own initiative.
  • Excellent team working skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues of all levels, including mentoring and guiding less experienced members of the team as required.
  • A good legal and commercial understanding of clients' needs, take a hands-on working approach, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience within the Legal sector and a STEP qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
