About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trust and Tax Manager to join our team at Hays Accountancy and Finance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the timely preparation of trust accounts and tax returns, including inheritance tax returns, and dealing with HM Revenue and Customs as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of trust accounts and tax returns, including inheritance tax returns
  • Deal with HM Revenue and Customs as required
  • Calculate trustees' liabilities to IHT, CGT and Income Tax
  • Manage client relationships and engage with all stakeholders involved
  • Prepare and attend trustee's meetings
  • Activate investment reviews and monitor the performance of investments
  • Prepare and review investment policy statements
  • Manage relationships with beneficiaries and draft deeds and associated policies
  • Review and interpret trust deeds and related documentation
  • Delegate and supervise the work of junior team members

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar position, preferably in the legal sector
  • Understanding of trust accounts, taxation of trusts, income tax, and computerised accounts
  • Experience with Trust/Tax software
  • Proactive team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good legal and commercial understanding of clients' needs
