As a key member of the North Kent team, you will play a vital role in the largest overhaul of the UK electricity grid in generations. Our team is upgrading the grid to ensure it's fit for the future, and you will be instrumental in ensuring the lights stay on and society keeps moving.

Competitive Pay and Benefits
  • Starting salary of £36,774 per annum, plus £4,500 per annum London Allowance, and £1,794 per annum Seasonal Working Allowance, totaling £43,068 per annum
  • Company commercial vehicle and fuel from home to work
  • 37 hours Monday to Friday, with weekends off

  • 26 days holiday plus 8 statutory days

About the Role

Mechanical and Electrical fitters take on a wide range of duties on Substation plant and equipment, including installation, refurbishment, maintenance, fault investigation, and repair. You will benefit from our industry-leading training at our facilities in Eakring, Nottinghamshire, and other substation sites.

You will work on complex 275kV or 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high-speed on-load tap changers, and cable systems, as well as ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems, air compressors, and diesel generators. There may be requirements for weekend work, with overtime paid.

Requirements
  • A minimum Level 2/3 recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering, or an NVQ/Level 3 electrical or mechanical qualification with relevant fitting experience
  • Good all-round engineering skills, including working to safety procedures, mechanical fitting, electrical fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, working at height, lifting operations, panel wiring, and fault finding
  • A Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Residency within 30 minutes' travel of Northfleet or Gillingham
