Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Innovation Tax Relief Lead to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing R&D engagements, including financial management, staffing, and client relationships. You will also develop claim methodologies and prepare R&D tax relief claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage R&D engagements, ensuring efficient financial management, appropriate staffing levels, and strong client relationships.
  • Conduct meetings with clients to thoroughly understand their needs, explain our services, and define the scope of work for each engagement.
  • Develop innovative claim methodologies tailored to individual client projects, ensuring compliance with UK R&D tax incentive regulations.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of comprehensive R&D tax relief claims, demonstrating a deep understanding of HMRC requirements.
  • Coordinate interviews with clients' technical teams, gathering essential information to accurately document their research and development activities.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external networks to identify new business opportunities and collaborate effectively with industry stakeholders.
  • Review the work completed by junior staff members, ensuring the highest standards of tax quality and accuracy in all deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is essential.
  • Proven experience within the software/IT industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of technological advancements and R&D processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK R&D tax incentives and regulations, including eligibility criteria and claim submission procedures.
  • A successful track record of preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims, achieving favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and concise articulation of complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in responding to HMRC enquiries, demonstrating a proactive approach to resolving any queries or concerns.
