Innovation Reliefs Tax Associate Director

This is an exciting opportunity to join RSM UK's growing tax team as an Innovations Relief Tax Associate Director. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with clients to identify and prepare successful tax relief claims for Research & Development (R&D) tax incentives.
With a strong background in computer science and software development, you will be responsible for managing R&D engagements, developing claim methodologies, and coordinating with clients' technical and finance teams to advise on R&D tax relief.
You will also be responsible for writing technical descriptions of client projects, preparing robust costing and technological documentation, and building internal and external networks to drive business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Managing R&D engagements, including financial management and billing, staffing, risk procedures, deliverables, and client relationships.
- Developing claim methodologies and managing the preparation of R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC.
- Coordinating and leading interviews with clients' technical and finance teams to advise on R&D tax relief and to assist with identification of qualifying R&D activities and expenditure.
- Writing technical descriptions of client projects and editing client-drafted technical descriptions.
- Preparing robust costing and technological documentation to support R&D claims based on the UK BIS guidelines and CIRD manual.
- Building internal and external networks to drive business development opportunities.
- Identifying, leading on, and progressing business development opportunities, pitching for work with both new and existing clients.
- Preparing documentation and liaising with HMRC in response to enquiries into R&D Tax claims.
- Acting as a point of contact on specific R&D projects for any queries from the business.
- Ensuring tax quality at all times by adhering to the firm's quality standards.
About the Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in computer science and software development. The ideal candidate will have a good level of tax technical knowledge of the UK's R&D tax incentives and experience in preparing and submitting R&D tax relief claims in the sector.
The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
