Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Frankham Consultancy Group. As a key member of our Building Services Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and managing delegated projects, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Act as lead consultant, lead designer, lead engineer, or mechanical engineer on delegated projects, taking ownership of workload delivery and reporting to the Line Manager.
  • Workload Management: Control and monitor all work of your own and your reports, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality parameters.
  • Reporting: Produce regular reports to the Line Manager on project delivery, highlighting progress, and identifying any issues or anomalies.
  • Process Implementation: Understand and implement group project, design, change control, and client management processes on delegated projects.
  • Survey and Design: Conduct detailed surveys of mechanical plant, services, and equipment to establish existing installations and gather information for design purposes.
  • Design and Documentation: Produce and coordinate drawings, designs, information models, specifications, feasibilities, technical reports, tender documentation, and tender reports for all aspects of mechanical services.
  • BIM and CAD: Have a working knowledge of BIM Level 2 processes, including BS 1192 and PAS1192:2, and be able to implement these processes on delegated projects.
  • Contract Management: Manage contracts, administer projects, and ensure compliance with client briefs, cost constraints, and program requirements.
  • Financial Control: Ensure financial control of contracts is maintained within client budgets, with assistance from Quantity Surveyors where appointed.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Construction (Design and Management) and other relevant Health & Safety Regulations for all aspects of delegated projects.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders, influencing and coordinating with them to achieve project goals.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure project work meets all relevant technical and professional standards on a consistent basis.
  • Client Pledge: Proactively promote and carry out the client pledge with customers to ensure timely payment of invoices in collaboration with the Commercial Administrator.
  • Business Development: Work with the Line Manager, Associate Director, and Marketing & Business Development teams to prepare and submit high-quality and competitive PQQs and Fee Bids.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior members of staff, ensuring work is carried out in line with required quality standards.

  • Professional Experience: 5 years plus experience working in a professional services environment.
