Job Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the scheduled and emergency upkeep of facility machinery and equipment.

Role Responsibilities

Primary Duties
  • Collaborate with management and utilize the site's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to prioritize urgent maintenance tasks and respond promptly.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks on facility machinery and equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedules and CMMS guidelines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with facility machinery and equipment, using technical schematics, manuals, and PLC/CNC applications as necessary.
  • Conduct fault analysis down to the component level.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of site-specific projects.
  • Facilitate the relocation of machinery and equipment when required.
  • Operate and manage site-powered vehicles.
  • Follow established safety protocols, including the site's Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to develop apprentice mechanics in Facilities & Maintenance.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance office to order necessary parts or supplies, providing detailed information as needed.
  • Engage with contractors and suppliers as required.
  • Serve as temporary Lead Mechanic when necessary and perform mandatory inspections of machinery and equipment.
Qualifications / Requirements:

The ideal candidate:
  • Must have completed a recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (proof of qualifications required).
  • Should exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be able to interpret and understand technical schematics and manuals.
  • Should possess the capability to work collaboratively within a team or independently.
  • Must effectively manage varying workloads and priorities to meet operational demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be proficient in computer usage and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have recent experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
  • Should have a solid understanding of mechanical systems.

Security Clearance

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is a requirement for this position and must be maintained. If BPSS clearance cannot be obtained, eligibility for the role may be affected.
